*Yawn*

My weekends aren't long enough. The week back from a long vacation feels like an eternity. Doesn't help that along with piles of homework, I stay after school for another 2 and 1/2 hours to help build the set for the upcoming musical. I'm so tired I forget to do the fun stuff that I want to do like finish writing and finish reading The Hunger Games.

Speaking of while I'm on the topic, I am barely finished with The Hunger Games and I already love it so much! It has just everything I love in a book: suspense, action, romance and awesome characters. I hope to get it finished before the movie comes out.

For anyone who has no clue what this book is about, here's a plot synopsis:

In the ruins of a place known as North America, there exists a nation known as Panem. In this country, there is a great Capitol with twelve districts. Previously, there were thirteen but the thirteenth district led a rebellion against the Capitol and was destroyed. As punishment to keep the remaining districts in line, each of the twelve must send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a great game which pitches the twenty four competitors against each other in a battle of survival (on live TV) where the winner receives glory and fame forever. Our focus is on Katniss Everdeen, a sixteen-year-old girl from District Twelve who takes her sister's place in the games. As the story progresses, we read her struggles of survival in these horrid games and what she deems is right and wrong of her country.

A very suspenseful novel that keeps you wondering what's gonna happen next with characters you get attached to and love. Highly recommend it if you have nothing to read.

Now on top of reading The Hunger Games, I'm also starting to read Fahrenheit 451 for my English class as we begin to focus on Modernism. Hopefully it's as good as it sounds.

I've actually been thinking of a plot for my own original dystopia idea. Maybe after I finish this one story, I can start writing it out. I know it's gonna be a good story.

I may forget to update this blog for a while since starting next weekend the musical director wants people to come in during the weekend for rehearsal for God knows how long. So I will be too tired to remember to do stuff (Hopefully I won't forget any upcoming homework...)

Before I go I thought I'd share this to my manga artists out there. My darling friend Kelly told me to look up a guy named Mark Crilley who is a manga artist and has many videos on Youtube giving out tips on how to draw in the manga/anime style. Here's just one of his videos. Enjoy!

So I got thinking...

So my step brother's Netflix came in (no clue why since he's back in Nebraska), and we got A.I: Artificial Intelligence and the first live-action Death Note film. Knowing me, which one did you think me and Marina would watch? Death Note of course. It's one of the few animes my sister actually likes, yet the movie disappointed her from the acting and English dubbing, but I kept watching anyway.

I may include like a crap ton of spoilers so if you wish to watch Death Note before reading this madness, you may leave if you wish so... Spoiler alert!

For those who aren't familiar with what Death Note is, it follows university student Light Yagami who has a great amount of intellect but is bored and tired of the corruption and crime he has to live in. He has even hacked into his father's work files to discover that criminals were let go from their charges. Furious and just plain bored, he discovers a notebook lying on the ground labeled "Death Note". As you can see to the right of the screen, there's even a manual how to use it. Should explain the basics.

With nothing better to do, Light takes this notebook home and experiments if it works by writing down the names of two criminals, both of which die of heart attacks (one literally in front of him). Eventually, after killing loads of criminals, a god of death named Ryuk comes to visit him as he is the original owner of the Death Note and just dropped it on Earth out of sheer boredom and became interested in Light's odd sense of justice.

Because of criminals dropping dead like flies from heart attacks, people begin to believe that it is some sort of god who they call Kira who is passing judgement on the wicked and evil. This begins major debates if Kira is a savior or just another cold-hearted criminal like the ones he kills. Light enjoys his fame with a goal to create a utopia without corruption and death and essentially become God in this new world.

Despite his intentions, he goes kinda overboard with the killings and grabs the attention of the Japanese Task Force (where his own father works!) as they realize that these deaths aren't coincidence or even natural. They begin to work with a famous detective simply known as L. As they slowly close in on Light being their prime suspect, everything turns as unexpected plot twists and such that keep Light a step ahead of the Task Force and L.

Now without really thinking, if you were given a power or someone had this power and was using it, would you support the killing of criminals who probably deserve it? I'm pretty sure many of us would say yes without truly giving it a second thought. Some get away with their crimes without serving time and some people think criminals have committed something so cruel that being in prison for life or sitting on death row isn't enough. It appears that our justice system isn't being fair to those affected by these people. Why not just kill them right away and have them suffer for what they've done?

But we have that justice system to maintain society and democracy and not have everything fall into anarchy. If we just ruthlessly get rid of every criminal no matter what they did, would that make our government any better than murderers? And what if these criminals are really falsely charged or are truly sorry of what they've done? I know it's hard to forgive these people but they're still human nonetheless. I watched a show about a woman who was accused by her own children of manipulating them to murder their step father and they showed her being interviewed and not only did she still have her wedding band still on, but she was crying and claiming that her children were lying. And I saw the exact same story on a different show where they displayed her as a manipulative woman who doesn't give a crap about anyone but herself. But I'm getting off topic. No matter how much we can't really forgive criminals or how unfair the judicial system is at times, it is what it is and we have to move on no matter how painful it is.

But I digress (by the way this is where the spoilers start).

In the first episode of Death Note, Ryuk mentions to Light that once all the murderers and convicts are gone, the only murderer in the world left would be Light himself. Eventually as the anime progresses, Light becomes more sloppy with his planning and just kills anyone who gets in his way, even characters of the main cast and his supporters! Yes, he grows supporters who get Death Notes themselves and do some of the dirty work for him. He has absolutely no sympathy for anyone who gets in his way and becomes a total sociopath.

In the end, he turns into a complete mess and grows a bit of a god complex and loses himself; he gets his sister traumatized, gets his father killed, kills his own girlfriend using the Death Note to have her burn herself to death, one of his followers stabs himself in the gut with a pen, Light himself is shot multiple times and is later killed by Ryuk via Death Note and his other girlfriend was implied to have committed suicide a year later! Even when he's on his last legs, Light is reflecting back to when he first picked up the Death Note years before and what his first intentions were.

Light had a great start, but with all that power in his hands, he thought he could do anything. Sure getting rid of the evil in the world sounds great, but c'mon, you gotta have some limits. Light wasn't just any university student; he had brains and eventually came up with bizarre but creative ways to kill people instead of solely using heart attacks. All of the fame, popularity and trouble with the police got to his head as he went mad with that power. He was willing to kill anyone (or have someone else do the killing) in order to create his "perfect utopia". Now is it me or is Light kinda sounding like a totalitarian leader like Hitler or Stalin? With the way his plans are coming out as the series is drawing to its end it sure sounds like it. He becomes insane and does whatever he want to achieve his goals no matter what. That insanity made him screw up a lot and eventually led to his death.

Self-control is the key to success. Without that self-control, failure is inevitable.

Freshmen Newbies

So this week was the first week that the freshmen came to the clubs they wanted to join.

Anime club was loaded with new faces which was really awesome. I know this is gonna be a great year of anime club. Next week we'll be selling Pocky at the Food Fair and walking in the Homecoming Parade cosplaying.

Today was GSA club and we had quite a lot of people join. We went into a seminar discussing about a new law that allows history classes to talk about people of different sexual orientations that helped shape our society. It got really interesting to talk about the tolerance of homosexuality in today's communities.

I think it'd be great to talk about people of different sexual orientations in our schools, especially in elementary school so we don't question this later when people think we should know it already. I mean if we let racial diversity being taught in school then why not sexual orientation diversity? I really don't find it fair that when I was in grade school I wasn't taught much about Asian and African American history cause I lived in a town where everyone was either Caucasian or Mexican, no Asians, and anyone I grew up with who was black was most likely adopted by a white family. I'm not kidding. It wasn't called White County for nothing. Anything I learned about African American or Asian history was 99% of the time from the History Channel.

When I moved at age eleven, I knew what homosexuality was and I was totally fine with it. It didn't bug me at all. I got new friends and most of them were bisexual. I'm an affectionate person so I have a tendency to hug people and a group of snobby girls saw that as a bad thing when I'd hug my friends and would pull the "Are you a lesbian?" crap. I find this annoying when people can't leave a person alone for their sexuality. At my new school, anyone gay or bi usually kept it hidden unless they were dating someone of the same sex. It ticks me off that no one could freely be proud of who they were because other people saw it as wrong. I mean what if I was actually a lesbian? That'd hurt so much with what those girls did. But you know what that was over a year ago so I could totally care less and that's just a chapter in my life I wish to say, in the words of Cee-Lo Green, forget you.

I was glad to move here cause no was so picky about sexual orientation. Granted it still exists but it's not as bad. I was glad to join the GSA and meet more people and probably think of ways to help my bi friends back in Indiana to tolerate with this. And I really support schools teaching about people of different sexual orientations so kids see that it's okay to love the same sex if you want to.

And this intolerance bugs me so much. How many times in history do we have to keep doing this? Fifty years ago everyone hated African Americans and twenty years before that it was the Irish and it just keeps going and going all the way to Biblical times with the Jews. How long is this gonna keep up? Till the end of time? People should seriously get over themselves with racial and sexual orientation discrimination. Yes, the Mexicans take our jobs to live in a decent country without being deported, but they're jobs that we don't want in the first place. And so what if someone is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender? It's who they are and what makes them a unique individual whether they like boys or girls.

This is the definition of marriage I found on dictionary.com: An institution where a man and a woman make their decision to become husband and wife.

I got a little irritated seeing gay marriage right underneath that. I know it's supposed to be between a man and a woman, but does that really matter? It should be about love, right?

So here's my new definition on marriage: The bond between two people who love each other to be together forever.

Sexuality has nothing to do with it.

This is why I get mad that religious people get in the way with their kids being themselves. I hate it when they see it as wrong and won't accept their kids for who they are. It's ironic seeing how Christianity tells us to love everyone but being homosexual is a bad thing when it really isn't. It's why these kids get so depressed because they're bullied and no one's there to support them because they won't be accepted or are too scared of what their parents may think and they end up killing themselves. My heart drops when I hear that stuff on the news with 14-year-olds killing themselves cause they just choose to end a life that hasn't really begun so soon... It hurts so much...

Well that was my rant...

GSA won't be doing Food Fair cause we're not allowed to sell energy drinks and it's too last minute to change it. But we will be in the parade too.

And tomorrow's Drama Club and I'm really hoping my sister does get a part in the play. It's my first year of drama so I'll be doing tech stuff and whatnot.

School's slowly getting busier... Have my first group project in Spanish and I think I'm stuck with some slightly clueless people... Will soon be reading The Canterbury Tales in English.. And I'm still brainstorming my final dance choreography before December... It's going pretty slowly. Heh..

New Schedules

So yesterday me and Marina got our schedules, ID cards, the whole nine yards. So happily we already got our Whooping Cough shots two years ago when we got three shots in one day. I thought it was for Chicken Pox but I guess I was wrong. Oh well. Least I don't need needles injected into my arm so I was so happy for that.

So here's my schedule in order:

Beginning Dance
World History
Chemistry
Advanced English 10
Algebra 2
Spanish 3

And I still have my advisory class with Mr. Brezette and I'm super psyched cause he also has my sister for one of his British Literature classes. So I feel uber happy about that.

So for the first time in a few years my school picture actually looks decent for once instead of crap which makes me happy. And I purchased a yearbook for this year as well. I was glad I was able to get my schedule earlier because we had to fix a fine from the water damage to my old geometry textbook cause I didn't need to be in a super long line for like over an hour. It was really good cause I got to see some friends I haven't seen since the start of the summer. Just five more days..

Which reminds me I still need to get my English homework printed. Hahahaha.

After getting our schedules, we drove to Gilroy so I can have more luck with back to school shopping at the Kohl's since it's the only place I'm able to find jeans and capris that fit. I also tried to get a pair of Vans but the store was just loaded with people because of a sale and I couldn't find what I wanted.

Bright side is that there's a Plato's Closet by the mall opening up at the end of the month so maybe I'll find stuff here.

So today's just another ordinary day. Sitting at home watching anime like there's no tomorrow. I'm slowly getting my way to finishing Chobits and Soul Eater.

Liz

Laziness and Homework

Haven't been having too many events happening recently. My days have been consisting working on my summer assignments and watching Soul Eater via Netflix. I got brownie points from my anime guru Travis for finally watching it. Will get a review on Soul Eater as soon as I can.

As for my summer assignments, I'm slowly progressing my way to finishing them. Mostly focusing on my English 10 assignment cause it's ridiculously long...Kinda reminds me that I need to figure out how to get the computer hooked up to the printer so I'll be able to print stuff.

So next week is me and my sister's orientation and schedule pick up for school. On top of which we still need our Whooping Cough shots. Still not looking forward to that. Oh well, as long as it's being done by a professional who knows how to handle a syringe, I'll be fine.

I still find it funny how our first day of school is on a Thursday and then a couple days later we have the weekend off. Least we get some time to get used to a new year. The only sucky part: Last day of school is on June 8th. Why we have ridiculous vacations, I'll never know.

Zombie-O's!

Omigod. Ten days with no new post? I've turned into such a lazy bum.

So in that nice ten day span, not much has been going on. Mainly school and what not. Me and my sister have been getting rides from our mom in the morning and walking home in the afternoon. We don't do carpool anymore since he decided to pull something really stupid and get his parking permit taken away. And he's a bit of a reckless driver for that matter. We don't really feel safe with him after the two accidents near the school that happened in less than a week. Yeah I don't feel like dying cause my carpool's a maniac. So that was a nice little highlight of last week.

Last Friday was my uncle Billy's wedding. Got pulled out of school early so that was a plus. And we got Micky D's for a late lunch. So unhealthy but so good. Billy got married at a courthouse and then we went out to this really awesome Italian place for dinner. Oh God. Best chocolate cake ever!! I scarfed it down it was so good.

And there was MLKJ weekend. Not much eventful other than me being a clutz and hurting myself via hitting my hand against a wall. On Monday Jamie came over and we did some stuff for cosplay club and I showed her an anime that she really loves now. Yes you can love an anime in a span of less than an hour.

School. Anime club day. We're gonna be in the school's Food Fair selling Pocky. So that's gonna be a nice nightmare scenario. Hahahaha. We made posters and they look like messes. And messes as in drawings just everywhere. That's what happens when you give psycho teenage girls two pieces of poster paper and a dozen Sharpies. We go berserk. So that's as eventful as my day gets being back in school. See you peeps later!

I feel so hypertastic!!!!!!!1!

Okay so today was the anime club's Christmas party. It was really awesome!

There was pocky, hello panda, and cake! We would've eaten that cake the original way by cutting it up but since we didn't have access to a knife at the time we just did it family style. And in case you don't know what that means, it means everyone grabs a fork and shovels away! It was so much fun! Our president even added pocky and hello panda to the cake which made it SO much gooder! We also did some dancing and mucking around. All sorts of crazy stoof...And now I'm on the biggest sugar rush in existence!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!! (Insert me running into a wall in your imagination)

I'm gonna sleep well tonight peeps!

Secret Tunnel!

If you don't get the reference in the title watch the 22nd episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

This week's been going pretty good. Just really any normal school week. On Anime club day, Marina came in and taught everyone a little bit of Japanese which was pretty cool. And..yeah nothing else super eventful other than of course the first part of the seventh Harry Potter movie coming out at midnight. I won't be seeing the premiere though cause I do have a bedtime and school. Plus I can't watch a movie at midnight cause I'll probably fall asleep. It's happened to me when I went to drive-in theaters. Always pass out in the middle of a movie. I'll probably see it when my friend gets ungrounded and we can see it together so that'll be fun.

I won't be on for the weekend cause I'm going to the wonderful place known as Yeosimite for weekend camping. And I get to leave in the middle of a school day too. No biology and geometry for me! This is gonna be an awesome weekend..if the bears don't eat us first..Hahahaha..Just kidding. No bears will be eating us. So bye bye for now!

Tik Tok

I'm a bit addicted to that song..Hahahaha

This has been a pretty good week. We did some discussion in anime club about fundraising to do cool stuff like going to Fanime and what not. Apparently we're limited due to the fact we can't do things like bake sales in school for some weird reason...Yeah I dunno. But we hope to be able to do more cool stuff.

I'm so glad politics are done and over with for the year. Politicians are crazy everywhere, but California has the craziest. Running for governor we had Jerry Brown against Meg Whitman. Hmm..A guy with political experience or a woman who became the president of eBay but has no political experience? Yeah, Jerry Brown won. Not only that but there are a ton of propositions for things like gay marriage, abortion, legal marijuana, you get the idea. I'm pretty sure most of that got turned down..I'm not really sure. I never have the attention span for politics.

Today was the first meeting of Red Moon Cosplay. Not much happened but rules and paperwork. I hope we get to do some cool stuff. And..that's about what has happened in my week. See you soon!

Liz

Giants!!!

Just finished seeing the Giants win the World Series and it was a good moment! Now my family can go back to watching football...Hahahaha

Halloween yesterday was really good. Of course I went trick or treating with Jamie and Akane which was really fun. Got a nice load of candy which I ate quite a few candy bars and such. Saving some candy of course so I don't get a cavity or a sugar hangover for that matter.

Nothing much happened today for a Monday. Tomorrow's anime club meeting and we really hope to get the president to start fundraising. Especially for Pocky Day!!

Sleepy..

I think this is the longest I've gone without a new blog post...Really haven't had anything new and interesting to put in a new post.

It's been in the nineties the past couple of days which is never any fun with being on an outside school campus. And man have I've been having loads of homework lately. Of course it's all done at home in two plus hours but they still give us a lot of crap. I've been really tired lately and have been going to bed a lot earlier than usual..no idea why I've been so sleepy lately..

And nothing else interesting happening...gone back to watching anime every night..

Liz

Anime/Manga Club

Weekend's gone which means school's up and running once again.

Went to the mall this weekend with Jamie. We spent most of our time reading manga in Border's where I just so happen to have gotten a nosebleed. It was a bit funny cause my friend came out of the manga section for tissues and when she asked a couple guys for tissues they stared at her for a bit and pointed her towards some napkins. Very funny moment there.

Today being Tuesday, it officially makes it Anime/Manga Club day! It's just full of awesomeness. An entire thirty minutes of lunch devoted to talking to psycho otakus about our favorite anime and manga. Makes one happy Eliza! And the pocky helps the cause as well.

Can't wait for Saturday. That's me and my sister's Techo Twister Shin Dig(name created by some of her friends). True to its name, it's a party with techno music and the game Twister..well Ghetto Twister that is. Instead of using the mat thingamabob, we use colorful electrical tape and tape it to the carpet and the person who's supposed to use the spinner turns evil and doesn't use the spinner and calls out whatever color and body part. It's gonna be crazy cause we got orange as an extra color.

That's it for now, so I'm gonna eat some of my mom's cooking for the first time in a few days and watch some T.V.

Ciao, me lovelies!

XOXO,
Liz

TGIF once again

Weekend start!

My Friday was pretty good. It was club day today at lunch which is a day where all the school clubs are set up at different tables and you sign up for whatever one you want to join. After some roaming, me and my friend Jamie came across an anime and manga club. Of course we had a little spazz attack and signed up for it. This is gonna be great cause I'll meet new people and make a nice load of friends. Anime crazed friends that is which is good. Ah..Happy days oh happy days..

My mom is out at Illinois for a twenty year high school reunion which means me and my sister are with our step dad for the weekend. Today, for dinner he took us out to the mall for fish tacos. As weird as it sounds it's really good..except for Rubio's fish tacos..they're awesome! Next to Chevy's, it's one of the best taco places ever!

I don't think we're doing much this weekend. Just another lazy two day break from school.

XOXO,
Liz

No soup for you!

Come back in two weeks....I'm not quite sure I just have that quote in my head. Anyway..

Yesterday, my friends Jamie and Akane came over for a while. We had a large pepperoni pizza and went out to the park. With Jamie cosplaying as Deidara-sempai from Naruto of course..cause she brought the stuff over and we were bored. I got to wear the Akatskuki cloak which is very comfy. Then we came back home, played around with belly dancing stuff, and ended the night with the second Bleach movie. I was so hyper that night...I think it was the surplus amount of grapes I was eating.

Nothing special today...lazy Saturday in the house hold. Two more days of weekend including Labor Day. Wish we could have three day weekends all the time..but since we can't I guess we'll have to deal with going to school on Mondays.

XOXO,
Liz
