Fat Tuesday

Our Winter Homecoming has come and gone yet it still feels like yesterday I was going deaf at the rally from a bunch of screaming girls.

Our theme for this homecoming was TV channels which was a good idea but spirit days were kinda boring cause I didn't see many people dressed up. Seniors had Nickelodeon, Juniors had CartoonNetwork, Sophomores (my class) had MTV, and Freshmen had ESPN. Spirit days in order were: PJ day, Safari day, Celeb day, Jersey day, and Mardi Gras colors day.

To be honest PJ day is the most useless spirit day EVER in this school. When they say PJ day, they mean "the Sobrato pajamas" that you have to buy. Guess how many people actually buy them? Not a lot. So on Monday I see people in those ones-ies that are oh so comfortable and the yard duties send you to the office and force you to go home and change. Also, it counts as an absence. Ugh.. ASB really needs to rethink their spirit days.

Celeb day was really hilarious cause two of my friends Travis and Lovisa dressed up as the Olsen twins. Not. Kidding. Travis had a bra, hair extensions and girls' clothes on. I'm surprised that he wanted to do something like that but it was amazing! I wish I took a picture but I didn't have my camera on me at the time.

And of course the day of the rally was quite eventful. Freshman skit: not as eye catching. Sophomore skit was pretty okay. They started singing 1985 by Bowling For Soup to represent old school MTV (when it was good) and then switched it to what they have now in the 2000's (which is now crap [sorry I don't like MTV with what crap they have on]). The dancing didn't amuse me all too much except for my friend Jon. If anything, he knew how to shake his butt better than the girls. And that's saying something! Junior skit was very, very good. They did dances from the old cartoons like Scooby-Doo and the Powerpuff Girls. I saw my friend Sara dressed up as Velma in the skit and she looked adorable and can run in heels! Senior skit was.... so-so. God I don't even remember it. Oh wait yeah, they made a remix of the Rugrats opening and I felt sad. And.... Yep it's all a blank slate.

That night I went to the school's annual Mardi Gras dance. Yep, instead of a Sweetheart Dance for Valentine's Day, we do a Fat Tuesday Dance. Mardi Gras is supposed to be the best dance out of all of them and they're right. In this dance they have a chocolate fountain where you can put in strawberries, pretzels and all sorts of other goodies in, and they have Black Jack tables, Roulette, Craps, and a Wheel of Fortune. And of course at the other end of the gym there's the DJ and "dancing" but I spent my time playing Black Jack and eating from the chocolate fountain.

I know how to play Black Jack and let me tell you, it's quite addicting. The second round I was playing I got two aces so I played the two separately, and guess what I got when I hit both of those once? A Jack and a Queen. How lucky can you get to get two 21's? Pretty damn lucky I figured. That was only the beginning of my luck. As I was waiting for Jamie to stop playing Wheel of Fortune, a random guy came up to me with all these chips in his hand and he went, "Hey, do you want these?". In disbelief, I said, "Are you serious?". Turns out he was and I took about six thousand dollars in chips from this very generous guy. Now THAT is just plain freaking lucky. So I split this massive amount of chips between me and Jamie and we keep playing to our hearts content! By the time all the games closed there was not much else to do so I went home and watched a bit of Sweeney Todd before going to bed.

As for today, my room looks the neatest it's been in ages. I was able to get the old TV set that's been sitting in my room and collecting dust out and get some pictures hung up. I really wanna have my own artwork displayed and I tried using these adhesives that are some sort of clay/Silly Putty material that stick to the wall and stick to whatever you're hanging up. Yeah, they don't work. Not just because the paper I created my artwork on is heavy, but those adhesives just eventually fall off. DON'T. BUY. THEM. They suck. Well anyway my room looks neat and like a human being lives there so that's a good thing. Still have some clothes to sort out and find which pairs of jeans I have still fit me. But overall, I say it was a success.

Now my mom is decorating and cooking for tomorrow's Superbowl party! We're gonna have about 30 people come over along with some small fluffy puppies who will be running a-muck the household. I guess who's cheering for who is whatever but the bright side is that the cake will be decorated in red, white and blue icing so we don't have to choose sides. Still a disappointment that the 49ers didn't make it to this Superbowl. Oh well.

Time to chill for the rest of the night in my favorite comfy pajamas.

Hot Showers = Greatest invention ever!

Another week down and another week closer to finals. Time to start studying like a maniac along with managing the crazy homework teachers still give us.

Had to take off on Monday since I was still sick and just spent the day watching anime. Next day: Too much work! Well at least I got sick before finals and academic focus week. Bunch of easy work in all my classes.... Well I do have a research paper to do in English which the rough draft is due Monday and I luckily got a head start on it. And I need to memorize a script I made for a speaking final in Spanish and I have to perform a tap dance with a group of people and all other crazy stuff.

Friday was my best day out of every other day this week. I performed my choreography final in Dance first since my mom had to go somewhere today and I did amazing. I danced to a piano version of an opening to one of my favorite animes: Air TV. A lot of people thought I was beautiful and I even almost made people cry, including my teacher. I was so nervous having to be the first one to perform. But I went at it and I did amazing!

Adding on to that, the formal was also last night! I went with my sister and her boyfriend and met up with friends at the dance. The red dress I'm wearing was in fact my mom's dress that SHE wore in high school. Same size and everything! I was so happy I got to wear it. We even have her prom dress but I don't think that'll fit either me or Marina any time soon. My mother was a tiny woman when she was in high school. Anyway, had a lot of fun with my friends dancing and acting like morons (in a good way). And I wish they made formal shoes for these dances that don't kill your feet. Flats hurt so much. Well anyway it was a great night. Other than Adele playing twice in a row. It's not that she can't sing it's just her music is on ALL THE TIME. Nothing like coming home tired of having a good time.

Lemme see... Going to a friend's birthday party today and trying to finish homework... Yep that's gonna be my weekend. And then it's Hell Week AKA Academic Focus week where we spend the time preparing for finals. Ugh... I just wanna be in Costa Rica already...

Everyone Hail to the Pumpkin Song

So Halloween has come and gone and I'm filled with joy. I dressed up as the Mad Hatter on Monday which was awesome. A lot of people dressed up in cool costumes. Even my English teacher dressed up as Lady Gaga! One of my favorite costumes of the day including my friends Travis and Lovisa's freaky clown and jester. That's why I like this school cause they let you wear your costumes at school for Halloween as long as you follow dress code.

After helping a bit with some drama set building after school, I quickly finished my Algebra 2 homework to go, you guessed it, trick or treating. It's a little awkward seeing two teenagers still willing to go out to get free candy. Got a lot of comments that me and Jamie were the tallest trick or treaters that they saw. But hey, it's free candy on a yearly basis. Who wants to miss out on that? Not me! Lots of adorable little kids and nice people that live in my area. And a lot of dog people too. Went over to Jamie's neighborhood for trick or treating which was practically almost over but we were able to get quite a few houses before nine. As a result... Well you can see the picture of how much candy I got. Anyone interested, those are four one quart bags. Contents: Reese's, Milky Ways, Snickers, assorted chocolates, gum, marshmallows, Tootsie Rolls, and all that sweet stuff that helps dentists pay for their bills and the toothpaste companies to keep making money.

So the night of monsters and sweets has passed so now people will begin planning big dinners with families and soon will be setting up crazy decorations for the yuletide season.

Today wasn't the best day in Dance for me or my teacher. So we have to turn in an outline that was due today of what basic idea we have for our final choreography and apparently some people are mentally incapable or something to take less than thirty minutes out of their life to do something so simple. Or there's of course the whining and complaining that they shouldn't do it because it's dance class. Reminder guys: It's high school. In case you've been in a coma for the past two years you've been here, they're gonna expect more work from you so you'll be prepared for college. Get with the stupid program, put on your big girl panties, and stop acting like you're the center of the universe when you're not. Sorry the teacher's not like the old dance teacher so deal with it. And it sucks cause a lot of kids give her so much crap and disrespect and she doesn't need or deserve it. She can be really nice if you don't act like a snob and actually do what she tells you to do. Sorry if you hate tap dancing but suck it up cause you signed up for dance for the year and good luck trying to change your class to regular PE.

Yeah... I just had to rant cause I'm kinda irritated with some people in that class. Not naming names but I think I got my point across. I just hope the rest of this week goes better.

As for the rest of the day, just same old school work except today I actually went home without any homework which makes me feel really happy. And I helped a bit today with more set building which included painting (and getting paint on my shirt) and seeing the actors/actresses go through part of scene two. Oh and we were able to get Chile's to give us a night of fundraising some money before the show and I believe we get 15% or something like that. But yeah, really nice for us to get money since we're already spending a lot more than we expected on Rumors alone. We still have money but we could use more for props and stuff.

Most stressful week of the year...

Ever have one of those weeks at school where everything starts piling up and you feel like ripping out your hair or just wanting five minutes to shut your eyes? Yeah.. It's been one of those weeks. Just homework on top of homework and by the time I'm done, I'm so tired and all I want to do is just crash and never wake up.

Best cure for stressful weeks? A nice hot shower. Just taking one is so refreshing and it clears up your head from all that stress. Thankfully the week's over and I'm only left with some crazy Algebra 2 homework I can easily get help on.

So other than some stressing homework, all of the dance classes got to perform in the "flash mob" today. I put quotes around flash mob because you know how it's supposed to be a big surprise and stuff so no one else can know but those performing? Yeaaaah some people forgot or didn't know that. And it became an event on Facebook too. But other than that it went really well.

And now it's all over and I can take a weekend to relax and probably finally get to finish Gurren Lagann and catch up on other animes.

Even more getting used to things

So last Friday was our first school dance which went pretty good. I had quite a few friends go and we all had tons of fun dancing. It wasn't as scary as other dances so thank God. Turns out that when the teachers said they would see if people were dancing dirty to a certain extent, they were serious about it. So about every few minutes a teacher would shine a flashlight on a group of kids. It wasn't so bad cause everyone would just freeze if they were doing something they weren't supposed to. Was okay for me and my friends since we don't do stuff like that. Overall, really good dance.

Saturday went by like normal and Sunday we drove up to San Francisco for Marina to visit her boyfriend. We went out for tacos and Italian sweets and did a little bit of roaming around Pier 39; mostly looking at sea lions which were funny and plain adorable. Really good day.

And now a new week of school has commenced. Just the same old usual school work and irritation of people who don't care for their education. And anime club will have its first meeting next Tuesday and we'll be deciding on president and vice president and what not. Fun had by all.

Feeling so fly like a G6

No I'm not drunk. That song just has a nice beat even though it's about drinking until you have no brain cells.

Gender Bender day was fun even though a lot of guys wore yoga pants so you could see their... yeah... I wore a sports bra to attempt to flatten my chest and my San Diego shorts as a substitute for boxers. I liked how hard the boys tried to look like girls. My friend David had water balloons in his shirt to make it look like he had boobs. I laughed so much. My darling sister told me I looked like Ash Ketchum if he was homeless.

With yesterday also being my sister's birthday we went out to our new favorite Japanese steak house. We always have a little "tradition" to go out to a Japanese restaurant on our birthdays. Been a little thing we've been doing for the past few years. I love Japanese steak houses cause you get dinner and a show. I like it when the chefs are funny and tell jokes. Our chef mixed eggs together and poured it on the stove to make it look like a turkey. It was hilarious... and then he cut the head off. Hahaha. Had a nice food baby afterwards.

Today was like Rep Your Class day but it was represent your sex day. So all girls wore pink and all guys wore blue. Though there was an announcement about sexual harassment yesterday cause people wanted to act like the opposite sex in a sexual way. Dunno why people do stupid stuff like that. Anyway.

With spirit week there's a rally during school which also means screwed up schedules. Rally was pretty fun though my throat still hurts from screaming. There was a tug of war competition and a lot of people from the bleachers joined in. And we were also doing the wave multiple times. Was really fun.

Tonight's also the last school dance which I am going to. Well technically there's also prom but that's only for Juniors and Seniors. Heh.

Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy

I don't know what P. Diddy feels like in the mornings when he wakes up but I hope it's like me on a Saturday morning. Tired and groggy from a night of dancing with friends for 3 hours.

This has been a pretty good week. We've just been prepping for finals for next week. So now my brain's a bit dead. Especially earlier this week from my sugar rush from hell. I was still hyper by Wednesday afternoon and then I crashed at nine at night and I woke up at one in the morning and didn't get back to sleep until three. I don't even remember falling back asleep.

Friday was a good day. Other than me eating a lot of ice cream and getting called the break up girl in Biology, it was also our winter formal. I got my hair straightened and my mom made me look so pretty. Jamie and Akane came over and we made Akane look like a Japanese Lucy Liu. She looked so cute! And it was her first formal too! We chowed on some pizza and took some pics and after Marina's friend, Mackenzie, came over we went to the school for some dancing.

Other than people looking all fancy schmancy, this dance wasn't so much different than the back to school dance. Yeah...there were people grinding on each other at this one too. Don't know how anyone thinks that's attractive but...okay..? Oh, and there were people outside the gym sticking their tongues down each other's throats. Cause that's hot in any way, shape, or form. I danced with my friends (obviously no grinding) and ate some food. Man, my feet hurt so much that night. Better I wore flats than heels, right? I dunno.

I was so tired when I got home. I only stayed up for another hour watching Babies (best movie ever by the way) and then I went upstairs and passed out at midnight. Then, I slept for ten hours.

I'm going to a friend's birthday party today. So this probably means I'm gonna pass out by like eight tonight. Hahahaha.

Weekend La~

First week of school is over! I thought Friday would never come. I ended the school day with making a couple of new friends: A Japanese foreign exchange student named Akane and an awesome anime and Kingdom Hearts fan girl named Jamie. Best day of my life!

After having some neighbors over for a nice big dinner, me and my sister went out to the first school dance with our new friends. To be honest, that dance was not that great. All of the music was horrible and the D.J kept mixing up everything so you couldn't hear just one song. And looking like you're having sex with clothes on is in no way, shape or form equivalent to dancing. So I kinda spent most of my time outside with Jamie talking about anime. But it was nice to get to know some new friends and do something other than sit at home all afternoon and night.
